Hi, everyone! I’m Leslie, internal organizer for the WNY region (VOICE, NOAH, and BILT). I’m also a PhD candidate, wife, mom, cat lady, and Irish fiddler. I’m basically a professional multitasker.
Academia was my comfort zone for most of my life, but I wanted to do more to impact my community directly. I started thinking about nonprofit administration (and particularly community organizing) as a way that I could use my privilege to help dismantle systems of oppression.
I happened upon VOICE and NOAH’s job ad in the same week I decided to transition out of academia. There it was, right on my Facebook page: the Resistance calling with my new mission, and I knew it was no coincidence. I started work at the beginning of December 2016, and I haven’t looked back.
My job is to organize organizers (which is a bit like herding cats) and help the organizations operate as efficiently as possible. I do a little of everything: fund development, event planning, data management, communications & marketing, office administration, human resources, and bookkeeping. You can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me chasing a toddler through a museum or fiddling at the Irish Seisiun at Nietzsche’s.
