A Faith Leader & Family Court Restorative Conversation

May 14 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Clergy Based Virtual Peace Circle

DMR is the Disproportionate Minority Group, a coalition of stakeholders from Erie County Family Court, CPS, DSS, and Foster Care and Adoption committed to ending racial disparities in child welfare through trauma informed care, restorative justice, inclusion, training, and restructuring flawed systems. VOICE Buffalo has worked with this coalition for the past two years and has used restorative practices to start the process of transforming current systems in collaboration with the community. To continue this work with fidelity in the midst of all the challenges surrounding us, we thought it best to initiate a restorative conversation with the Faith Community.

We would like to invite you and other interested Faith Leaders to join us on Thursday May, 14th @ 1:00PM on Zoom (Meeting information is below). As we know many of our congregants and community members have been impacted by systems like Child and Family Services, Protective Services or Juvenile Justice and Family Court. This conversation will be centered around how we as the community of faith work to support our congregants and community in navigating and understanding the family court, CPS, Foster Care and Adoption system. We also will discuss ways of partnering with DMR to ensure that our congregants and community are heard as we work to repair the harm that has happened within this system. We look forward to the insight and wisdom that you will bring to the conversation.
