BILT Community Celebration

August 17 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

When BILT started in 2015, we were a small group of individuals from Burma, Rwanda, Liberia and Bhutan/Nepal – new Americans – who wanted to improve public education for refugee and immigrant students. Since that time, BILT has achieved expanded community school hours, received a commitment from the Superintendent to hire more bilingual teachers, and developed a coalition of educators, advocates and resettlement agencies that is pushing New York State to make system changes so more deserving and qualified individuals can become bilingual teachers. In April, 2019, BILT gained 501(c)(3) status and is now an independent organization, still working in close partnership with VOICE-Buffalo. BILT has made some big accomplishments. Now we are ready to celebrate!

In addition to our accomplishments, BILT continues to grow. By purchasing a $20 ticket for our Community Celebration, or investing in our work with a sponsorship, you are supporting our ongoing efforts to grow leaders and change systems. Click on the links below today to purchase your tickets or to sponsor the event (sponsorships available at several levels, starting at $50).

The 2019 Community Celebration will feature music and dance from Congolese, Karen and Nepali artists as well as food from around the world. Enjoy the entertainment, win raffle prizes and meet some incredible new people! Free parking available at Kleinhan’s.
