Fr. Harry Grace, Fund Development Chair

Harry Grace, known around Buffalo as “Father Harry,” is a retired Episcopal priest, serving part time at St Mark’s & All Saints Episcopal Church in Riverside. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, and grew up in (then) rural Bucks Co. and served in the US Navy after graduating from Penn State. He is married, and has two children and three terrific grandchildren, none of whom live in Western NY.

After serving in the Navy he attended seminary and became active in the protest movement against the war in Vietnam. His second position was an inner-city Newark, NJ, church where he also served as unofficial chaplain to the tenant organization that had organized the nation’s longest rent strike against HUD. It was there that he met the Urban League, and became involved in community action, after the pattern of Sol Alinsky, to provoke change for social justice.

Since coming to WNY, he has become involved with VOICE-Buffalo where he is the Director for Fund Development, and his passion is for racial justice and criminal justice reform.
